EZ Lounge, Oakland Shooting, Oakland, CA: Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in downtown Oakland, California, leaving two people dead and five others injured.
According to the Oakland Police Department, officers responded shortly after 3:30 a.m. to reports of gunfire in the 400 block of 14th Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered seven victims suffering from gunshot wounds and immediately began providing aid while awaiting the arrival of emergency medical personnel.
Authorities later confirmed that the shooting occurred inside EZ’s Lounge, located at 412 14th Street. Despite lifesaving efforts by officers and paramedics, a 33-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A 25-year-old man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Officials have not yet publicly released the identities of the two victims as authorities continue notifying family members.
Five additional individuals were also injured during the shooting. Police reported that at least three of those victims were treated for their injuries and are currently listed in stable condition. The conditions of the remaining victims have not been fully disclosed.
During the initial response, officers detained several individuals who were present at the location and recovered multiple firearms at the scene. However, investigators have not confirmed whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
Detectives from the Oakland Police Department’s Homicide Division are now leading a detailed investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting. Authorities are working to gather evidence, review surveillance footage, and interview witnesses in order to establish exactly what occurred during the early morning incident.
